I accepted Christ when I was about 9 years old. I had a very close relationship with God until around my junior year of high school. Then, I went to college six hundred miles away from home. I was forced to form new relationships and tragically I neglected the most important relationship I had in pursuit of my own interests. Because I neglected my relationship with Jesus I soon found myself deep into numerous habitual sins.
Ironically, it was when an atheist professor challenged my entire belief system in a philosophy class that I realized that I had drifted too far away from God. Around this time Jaclyn (now my wife) and I had been dating for a while and we both decided it was time to turn around and head back to God. It was so hard going to church because I had to listen to the hard truth, something I had a tough time accepting because my lifestyle had changed… I was living for the world.
Jaclyn and I moved to Spartanburg after we graduated college. We were church shopping for months before we came to First North. There we found an honestly caring and loving church family along with a pastor that taught the truth. At First North, I rededicated my life and I have been able to come face to face with my past and give it all to the Lord. Every day is a new day with its own challenges, but when you have a close relationship with God himself, nothing is too big for him to handle.
