Mitch Allen

I was blessed to be born into a Christian home. As far back as I can remember, I was in Sunday School and church. I can’t remember not being in church every Sunday.  My dad and mom were Christians and raised me to know who Jesus is.

Several people had an impact in helping me to know I needed to accept Jesus as my Savior. One was a handicapped lady, and I remember thinking if she could get to church and teach our class every Sunday, it must be important. The other was a man who was also faithful and had a mission reach outside the church. Their actions spoke louder than their words. Our church had a strong Royal Ambassador program. Our leader helped me understand the need to give my heart to Jesus. I remember the day our pastor came to our house, talked with me and my parents, and I accepted Jesus. I joined the church and was baptized. Continuing in the Royal Ambassadors probably contributed more than anything else to my spiritual growth.

After graduating from college and serving 2 yrs.active duty in the Army, I married a wonderful girl. For 42 yrs.I have been blessed to be married to my best friend. We have 2 grown sons and she does more than her share to establish a Christian home for our family. In the late 90s, we didn’t drift away from our church, but were spiritually burned out and realized we needed to find a church home where we could once again grow in our faith. After visiting different churches, we both felt the Lord leading us to First North and in Aug.99 we joined. We agree that that rekindled our faith. We are thankful for the Christian environment, friends and leadership we have found here.
