Larry Whitfield

I became a Christian in 1970 under a Navigator Ministry at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Before this time, I grew up in an occasional church going type of family. My family was very good people. I grew up as a hard worker and was a very good student and very much involved in sports, even played college baseball. After I graduated from college, I was drafted into the military and on my way to Vietnam. I was the kind of person who had a lot of questions but not many answers. There was a lot of anger and frustration in my life and I was not on a path to find any answers.

My wife and I did go to the base chapel programs. There I met a good friend who was in the Navigator Ministry. He shared his life with me and more importantly, he shared the answers the Bible had for me. I began to realize Christ was the way, the truth, and the life. In simple faith and surrender, I prayed asking Christ to take the mess I had made of my life and gave my life to Him. Christ did give me a new life just as II Cor 5:17 says and all things became new. He did begin a change in me and gave me answers for life now and for eternity. It was much later that I realized the full meaning of being secure in Him when I die and being with Him in Heaven.

Phil 1:6 says He that began a good work in me will keep it until the day of Jesus Christ. I have found that to be true. Phil 2:13 says it is God who works in us to will and to do His good pleasure. I have found that to be true as well. God has truly worked in my relationships and in my family to His Honor and Glory. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
