As a child I attended Sunday school and church with my parents. Hearing God’s Word, I realized I was lost without Christ. The Holy Spirit continued to convict me of sin. I went into my mother’s bedroom to ask her, “Can I be sure I will go to Heaven when I die?”
While I sat on Mom’s brown vanity stool she opened the Bible before me and explained God’s answer. She pointed out Isaiah 64:6 “…We are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags…and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away…” Mom shared God’s great love for me and that Jesus Christ willingly gave His precious blood and died in my place on the cross. The Holy Spirit captured my heart when we read Romans 10:9 10, 13 “…If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says….‘Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’” Jesus Christ came alive from the dead, and is still alive, proving that His death in my place secured eternal life for me. I believed God’s promise and called upon the Name of the Lord to save me.
I know eternal life is mine and have God’s assurance of Heaven. What a joy it has been throughout my life continuing to know God personally and seeing His hand upon my life, family and church. Knowing Christ as my Savior has truly been my most life changing experience. Christ gave us the great commission to make disciples of all ethnic groups to the “ends of the earth.” My passion is to G.I.T. R Done.
