Learning about Christ and His Church has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I was raised in a Christian home by Godly parents. My Mother’s love for the Lord and his kingdom became a part of my life even before I could walk or talk. I feel my foundation was formed very early. I firmly believe in “raising your child right.” I continued to grow in surroundings that would lead me to having strong beliefs and to listen to and follow the teachings of Jesus.
Being raised in a Christian home, I had a wonderful foundation to lead me in the direction of becoming a saved child of God. At the age of 10 at a revival meeting in our Church I felt the calling of the Lord to join His army. As I grew as a young Christian, I began to learn more and more about what that meant. I had a rather uneventful young life and not until college times did the devil challenge me greatly. Overcoming obstacles that arose, I many times felt like Peter. I began to realize that Peter would become my favorite disciple since he “blew it” so many times and God continued to bless him. So has been my life.
My Mom was always my perfect example of the results of walking with the Lord. She lived every day of her life by the motto of “they will know that we are Christians by our love.” As I grew older along with my parents, more challenges came my way. Still with my trust in the Lord, I was able to meet them. My real test of faith came several years ago when the financially rewarding job that I had been fortunate to have for 25 years became very shaky. By this time my Mom was in poor health, the bills were enormous and eventually she would have to live in a nursing home. I daily asked God to bring us through these times both financially and spiritually. Every thing we needed was always there. My Mom went to live with the Lord in August 2003 and my job ended the following October. Again God was faithful. He remains faithful as being in your 50’s looking for a job and starting over is not an easy task. Though I had to learn to live on half of the income I was accustomed to, again God has been faithful and always seems to provide for my needs and many of my wants. I just can’t imagine where I would be without HIM. Romans 8:28
