Brian Osburne

My parents loved the Lord. They tried to teach me the difference between right and wrong. I say “tried” because ultimately every person has to make their own choice whether to obey or disobey God. I many times chose to not to obey.

When I was 9 years old, a church pastor told the story about how his son came to Lord. This story stirred my heart and I accepted Christ as my savior. I remember my dad taking me to Hardee’s and holding out a pocket knife in the palm of his hand. He said this is a gift to you, you can have it but you must take it from my hand to make it yours. He said Jesus too offers us a gift, but you must take it and make it yours.

Taking the gift was easy, making it mine was more difficult. Even though Christ had saved me it took time for my life to change. But Jesus has changed me and continues to mold my life each day.

I remeber the exact day I came to know Christ as my savior. My family had gone to vacation bible school with freinds who lived up the street from us. The pastor came in our classroom and got us all to bow our heads. He said if you don’t know Christ as your savior. Repeat this prayer after me. I think that day was the greatest day of my life. Now I have came to know Christ not only as a Christian but as a human I know it saved my life. I think that 6/8/05 was a great day and I will always remember that pastor who saved my life from going to hell.
