I grew up going to church with my family constantly. From an early age, I knew I was a sinner who needed Jesus. Unfortunately, this knowledge was only intellectual. I knew the truth, but I wasn’t ready to let Him come in to my life.
One summer when I was 11 years old, my family was serving at a Baptist camp. One night during the invitation, I finally acknowledged my need for a Savior. With a counselor’s help, I confessed my sin and accepted the forgiveness Jesus offers through His death and resurrection. I prayed a prayer of freedom that night because I was finally set free from carrying around all of the things I do that displease God.
Since that summer night, Christ has set my heart free in so many ways. I no longer carry the burden of my sin. Though I still disobey Him at times, He has forgiven me for all that I have done and will do. He has also allowed me to grow and serve Him in countless ways since that night.
