Growing up, my parents took me to church most Sunday mornings. I was taught good moral values and to live by the “golden rule”. I always wanted to please others and tried to “be good” all the time. When I was 10 years old, I attended a Girls in Action recognition service. The subject of the sermon was sin. The pastor talked about how everyone has sin in their life and we cannot cleanse this sin without a Savior.
Immediately, I felt the weight of my sin. I had never before considered myself a sinner since I had always tried to do what was right. I did not realize until that moment that I could never be good enough to get to heaven. I needed a Savior and Jesus is the only way according to Scripture. John 14:6 says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” I wanted the assurance of heaven and that night confessed my sin and gave my life to Christ through prayer.
Since that time, I have had a relationship with Christ and continue to depend on Him daily. He has blessed me through good times and bad. I now have the opportunity to teach and minister in His name through my teaching job and serving at church.
